What you can expect from HW
You can expect all of the attributes that characterise our external audit service (see above). In addition, our internal audit offering is very much based on the premise that an effective internal audit function should be the primary source of independent advice to senior management. This means that you will receive a service that:
- Is high profile and strategic in its look and feel
- Is delivered by an experienced team of professionals that is drawn from a range of disciplines (industry, local government, police and fire authorities, local government pension schemes, health sector)
- Engages members, not just officers, as and where appropriate during reviews
- Always has an eye on strategic issues and objectives regardless of how “routine” a review may be
- Utilises specialists at no additional cost to the organisation to enhance a review
- Challenges and probes in a way that ultimately helps foster mutual respect
- Is just as much focused on “over” controls and too many processes just as it is on control weaknesses and missing controls
- Is relatively unobtrusive as the audit approach hinges on detailed up front analysis, targeted testing which is not driven by prescribed and copious checklists and focused reporting on issues that really matter
- Takes a sensible and measured approach to the type, level and frequency of testing (in keeping with the principles of risk based auditing)
- Actively encourages the sharing of knowledge with our clients
- Allows our auditors to look beyond a given audit brief and consider wider performance improvement opportunities that the organization can benefit from
- Fully understands the requirements of external audit thereby allowing the two audit disciplines to work in tandem as opposed to duplicating.
