The new coalition government has committed itself with identifying significant spending cuts. This means that organisations delivering public services will have to be even more economical and efficient in order to meet the difficult challenges ahead.

By 2012, legislation will be in place compelling all practices in England with a registered list to be part of a commissioning group. The new structure will increase the administrative and financial management burden on GPs. The Government’s transparency agenda may also require GPs to have their personal earnings published, leading to increased public scrutiny.

The new consortiums will require sound governance arrangements to be in place to demonstrate accountability, transparency and effective use of resources. HW Controls and Assurance can help GP’s address many of the future financial challenges and requirements of good governance.

Our Experience

Our Governance Advisory service to the Primary Care sector is lead by Nasir Rafiq (Director). Nasir’s experience of advising on all aspects of governance covers PCT’s, Strategic Health Authorities, Hospital Trusts and local government. He is supported by Anthony Brand, a Partner in our Kent office. Anthony has been a member of the Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants (AISMA) since 1995.
